As a packaging material, it’s often confused with shrink wrap; however, the two are different. Stretch film is wrapped tightly around packages or objects to secure them together or keep them protected. Shrink wrap, on the other hand, is applied by first covering the item loosely; heat is then used on the shrink wrap, causing it to shrink tightly around the package.

Stretch film comes in different thicknesses and widths. They come in different gauges, bandings, hand grades, and machine grades. They also come in specialty variants such as colored stretch film, UV stretch wrap, anti-static stretch film, etc. The size and type of stretch film you choose depend on its intended application.
